When life hands you lemons, you could make lemonade. Or, you could use lemons to clean your house. Lemons are very versatile for cleaning. The acid in them makes them a natural bleach alternative. Clean Your Microwave
Make the inside of the microwave easier to wipe off. In a bowl, heat a cup of water, several tablespoons of vinegar, and a chopped-up lemon on high until the microwave’s window is steamy. Let the bowl sit for 5 minutes before you open the door. Then wipe the microwave interior with a sponge.
Clean Your Wooden Cutting Boards
Remove food stains and smells from your cutting board. Using the fleshy side of lemon half – scrub the salt into the cutting board. Let the salt and lemon solution sit for about five minutes. Wipe the board clean with a sponge. Then rinse, and dry
Make An All-Purpose Kitchen Cleaner
- One part white vinegar
- One part water
- Lemon rind
- Rosemary sprigs
Combine the above ingredients together, pour into a spray bottle, shake, and then let infuse for a week before using. Once done, you can use the natural solution to remove hard water stains, clean trash cans, wipe away wall smudges, and much more. Besides a fresh scent, the lemon rind may help boost cleaning power.
Grout Mold Removal
- Add equal parts lemon juice and vinegar to a small bowl. Slowly add baking soda until a paste forms.
- Apply paste to the grout in your bathroom and let sit for fifteen minutes.
- Scrub with a moist small brush.
- Rinse with clear water.
- Repeat (if necessary) until grout is clean

Run a few lemon rinds through the disposal – then follow with cold water. As a bonus you can also do this with the lemons used in the other cleaning methods. You get rid of the lemon rinds/halves, and you freshen your garbage disposal.
