Vinegar As A Cleaner
Vinegar is a staple in most household pantries, used for flavoring, cooking, and pickling. But did you know that you can use vinegar as a cleaner? Despite its popular use in food preparation, vinegar is a most widely used natural cleaning solution.
Vinegar is tough, effective, and can be used to clean several areas within your home. But, before you reach in the pantry and start cleaning, take into consideration what surface you are cleaning and how much you will need.
Here are some tips and hacks to know when using vinegar as a cleaner:
- Clean Your Dishwasher: Pour one cup of white distilled vinegar into the empty dishwasher and run it through a washing cycle. This will not only remove odors but will remove soap buildup from inside. This is effective if done monthly.
- Clean Your Coffee Maker: Get better tasting coffee by cleaning the inside of the coffee maker to get rid of mineral deposits. Fill the water tank with one cup of white distilled vinegar and run it through a brew cycle. Afterward, run one or two regular cycles with just clean water to get rid of the vinegar smell.
- Clean Your Shower head: Pour ½ cup of baking soda and one cup of white distilled vinegar into a plastic bag. Then, tie it around your shower head. Let the solution sit for about an hour after the bubbling has stopped. Remove the bag and run the shower for a few minutes.
- Clean Your Drain: Using vinegar as a cleaner is a great way to freshen a smelly drain! Pour in one cup of baking soda and one cup of hot white distilled vinegar. Let that solution sit for five minutes and then run hot water down the drain.
